Hot Springs: Smyly’s Crab Shack Restaurant

“Fantastic crab!”

The outside screams biker bar and the inside is not any better. During warm weather they offer a deck facing the lake with a wonderful view and an escape from the smoke fog. While your waiting for your order, you will find 10 legitimate reasons to bolt for the door, but if you can hang in there….. The Crab is Fantastic! Made with a recipe that makes you think San Francisco Embarcadero and not Juarez street vender as the motif would suggest.

Gainesville: Sarah’s On The Square Restaurant

Quiet relaxing refined lunch

Was in town on business and had lunch here. Was looking for a little more upscale than the corner diner and found it here. An eclectic variety of antique chairs and tables adorns the dining area and a grand chandelier hangs over the bar. Plus the burger and home made seasoned fries were great. Overall a great place to experience small home town feel and good food at the same time.

Asheville: Chestnut Restaurant

Midwest farmer says “one of the best filets I ever had”

Rarely am I impressed by a piece of beef outside of the Midwest, but this place has it. I was slightly disappointed by the attentiveness of out waitress, but overall they still get my highest rating. I have been in Asheville for 5 days. It seems the highest rated places have been missing the polish that I have been fortunate enough to previously experience, but this place is truly one of the best.
